Chris has created many celebrity portraits using cut up pieces of the Weekly
World News, a tabloid magazine. He uses the tones of gray, different size
fonts and headlines to create the highlights, midtones and shadows. He has
done portraits of famous people such as Kenny Rogers, Bill Maher, Bob Newhart,
Brad Sherwood, Collin Mochrie, Eric Idle , "Mean" Joe Green, John
Leguizamo, and Willie Nelson to name a few.
Chris doesn't just get inspired from the Weekly World News, he also does mosaics
from actual books that celebrities have written. He feels creating their portraits
from their actual words in print makes the art work even more personal. He
has taken Howard Stern's book "Private Parts" and created a portrait.
Some other talents include comedian George Carlin, Baseball Hall of Famer,
Phil Rizzuto, Ricky Klienan from Court TV, and Football Hall of Famer, Lawrence
Taylor.
He is currently working on Joan River's portrait with her book,
"Still Talking" and Robin Quivers biography, "A Life".
When Chris is away from his art studio he is busy running his famous
sub shop, called Elsies, located next to The Covert Gallery on Monmouth
Street, Red Bank, New Jersey.
